How Many Pages I Wrote in March 2023

Ahhh… reflecting on March. It was a busy month. Not only did I write and publish 4 new posts to my brand spankin’ new website, but I did that in addition to all my other responsibilities – laundry, cooking, shopping, cleaning, dishes, kiddie stuff, daughter stuff, daughter-in-law stuff, wife stuff, sister stuff, friend stuff… just all the stuff!

And yet somehow I still found a smidge of time to write 6 pages in my sci-fi coming of age novel. I wrote from page 95-100. Now I’m not saying I’m not proud of those 6 pages. I definitely am. But at the same time, I could’ve done better. There were 4 weeks in March and if you average that, I wrote about 1.5 pages per week. Which is not what actually happened. I wrote maybe one day last month and punched out all 6 of those pages ’cause I was on a roll. But still, I can definitely do better.

And even though April is now more than halfway done, full disclosure, I haven’t written a single word in my novel. Now to do be fair, April had Spring Break right at the beginning of the month, so I had extra kid and family stuff to do, which put a damper on my writing time. But does that sound like excuses? Maybe just a little.

So here’s what I’m challenging myself and all my readers, who may also be writers, to do. I’m challenging myself and everyone else who needs it, starting now, to write at least 1 page a day. That’s the bare minimum. Today is April 18, 2023. That means before midnight strikes tonight, I’ve got to write at least one page in my book. And if I happen to get on a roll, so be it. I will write to my heart’s content. If, no, when I follow through with this challenge, I will have written lucky number 13 pages. That’s more than double I did last month.

Let’s get it!
