December 2025 Writing Update
Hello readers!

So November was a slow reading month for me. Yeah, I only read five books. Well, 4.5 really, since I DNF’d one. Of those I read, I rated two of them above 4 stars. Let’s get into the one I liked the best right here!

Lover Enshrined (Book 6 of The Black Dagger Brotherhood Series) by J.R. Ward
You can read my reviews for the first five books in the series here. I read the hard copy from the library. This one still had some cringey slang in here. But if you overlook that, so much happened! It wasn’t only Phury’s and Cormia’s book. A murderous vampire was born again as a psycho lesser, or undead slayer. We got into the dynamic of the next generation of vampires, led by John. And the storyline featuring them had me misty-eyed. I can’t get into what went down without spoiling it. Just read it. It was so good!
I enjoyed John and Xhex’s storyline. That’s gonna be hot in books to come. I was surprised that he got drunk and straight-up told her he wanted her, especially since he was so shy. And then later, she thought that was hot. Nice.
Rhev had a little weird thing going on with this blackmailing sympath princess, who he’s allergic to. Phury was a complicated, tortured, drug addict. I liked that Cormia was figuring out what it meant to exist outside that all-white realm and fell in love with her primale. She wanted to give him everything and loved him unconditionally. They loved each other so deeply, it was beautiful to behold. A good read.
4.25/5 stars
Circling back, I probably only read 4.5 books because I finished one of my three microdrama screenplays. Yay! It took me about three weeks to complete. Having an old script to work off of helped, but it’s truly a much different script now. I even added some new characters to the mix. It’s a sci-fi romance. Woo-hoo! It was a lot of fun to write/rewrite. This particular story with these characters existed in so many different formats prior to this one. It was a pilot, a feature, a 30-minute comedy, a 60-minute drama. My main character was a kid at one point. Now, she’s in college. It has had four different titles. This story has morphed in so many different ways over the past 11 years, it’s crazy. But now, I’m excited. We’re gonna work on getting this one produced. Stay tuned.
As for my vampire coming-of-age book, it’s still in the hands of my beta readers, aka family members. I’m awaiting their much-anticipated feedback before I take another shot at editing it.
In the meantime, I’m currently working on a science-fiction, conspiracy theory-esque micro-drama. I started writing the screenplay for this last week, and I’m about a quarter of the way through it. It’s based on an idea my husband had back in the day.
After that, I’ll be working on my third micro-drama. And, again, these are basically features broken down into bite-sized 1-3 min episodes. My third one will be a Black romance.
As always, my novel, The Secrets We Keep, is available on Wattpad. If you’re interested in reading it, it’s available here. It has cheating themes and plenty of spice for your reading pleasure. Enjoy!
Watch out for Book 2 of The Secrets We Keep series, chapters dropping in the new year on Wattpad.
Thank you so much to my readers! Happy reading and happy writing!
Lauren
